Sir Adrian Cedric Boult (1889-1983) was educated at Westminster School and Christ Church, Oxford. He was not called up due to ill health, but served as an Orderly Officer training troops in Cheshire and North Wales before working as a translator for MI5 and as an assistant to Frederick Marquis, later Lord Woolton, at the War Office.
